Miller and Canadian neuroscientist Alanna Kit opened Arc in Canary Wharf
Chris Miller and neuroscientist Alanna Kit have opened Arc in Canary Wharf, currently the UK’s largest sauna. The £2.2 million facility features a main chamber capable of accommodating 85 people around three large-scale stoves. Central to the offering is contrast therapy, supported by eight custom-designed ice baths with temperatures ranging from 6°C down to 0.5°C.
The venue moves away from traditional spa aesthetics in favor of a social, club-like atmosphere. Designed by Cake Architecture, the space includes low lighting and a high-specification sound system, with DJs performing during weekend sessions. This "social wellness" approach aims to position the sauna as a modern alternative to bars and pubs, encouraging interaction between guests following their contrast cycles.
Beyond the social element, Arc emphasizes a data-driven approach to wellness. Co-founder Alanna Kit is collaborating with researchers from University College London to conduct EEG brain-signal monitoring on participants to better understand the neurological effects of cold immersion. The founders have indicated plans for further expansion, with potential future sites discussed for Marylebone and Manchester.
